Robinson Self-Teching Home School Curriculum (CD's)
|
Question:
I purchased this set (over eBay) supposed to cover grades 1 - 12 and can't
figure it out. I am just finding out that there are books that have to be
purchased along with it, such as Saxon for math. Don't know what I was
expecting, but this wasn't it. I can't find out what books (and that is
mostly what it is...books for reading and questions about the books), are
for what grade. I am really disappointed. I am trying to teach the 11th
grade and was hoping that this would take us the rest of the way through our
homeschooling.
Anyone else ever use this Curriculum? Maybe I am just no understanding the
correct way to use it. I have the version 1.0 / July 1995.
Answer: Yes I have tried the Robinson curriculum. Firstly, on the CD rom you will
find a list of books to read. Each book in the list has vocabulary words to
learn which you print out from the vocab. section. After you have finished
reading the book you take a vocab. test which is included in the programme.
Then you go on to the next book. Mr. Robinson has an overview of the
curriculum on the CD rom.
Alongside this you should be working your way through the Saxon math series,
which you buy either through him or a home-school supplier. As far as
writing goes the children pick topics to write about and the books they
read stand as a model for their writing.
Hence, we did not continue with the programme although it has worked for Mr.
Robinson. Different strokes for different folks!
