California homeschooling laws?

Question:
My friend said: "you can't do that in California unless you have a teaching certificate".

Is this true? I was under the impression California was a pretty good state for homeschooling.

-There are many many families who have homeschooled in California without a teaching certificate.

-I might also add that while it is possible to homeschool in California, if you have children in entertainment, you need to be careful of HOW you are homeschooling. The work permit process is set up to discriminate against homeschoolers.
