Homeschooling for educational reasons?

Question:
Homeschooling for educational reasons?

Answer:
-homeschooling.about.com has some good sources and there are many many more

I'm very active in the homeschool community here in CT. The VAST majority of homeschoolers do not homeschool for religious reasons or are 'wacko'. For a good number religion is a factor but not the ONLY factor or major factor. The face of homeschooling is a lot different then it was even 10 years ago.

-Homeschooling for educational reasons? Here are some resources I've been contemplating:

Free Homeschooling Curriculum and Ideas: http://www.middleschool.net/hmschool/hscurpgs.htm

Articles answering questions about homeschooling: http://www.athomeinamerica.com/

Website for advertising/purchasing used homeschool texts and curriculum: http://www.homeschoolusedbooks.com/

Site with daily "homework" assignment suggestions: http://www.dailyhomework.org/

Discount site for homeschooling supplies: http://www.homeschooldiscount.com/

I've weeded this list to exclude Christian based homeschooling info but I do feel that some of the curriculum outside their religious teachings can be quite excellent. I'd be reluctant to recommend anything on this list or any other list at present as I haven't had any first-hand experience with them. I've simply been doing a little 'net research on the topic and have these bookmarked.

We too are contemplating the whole homeschool thing for education purposes only. Like you, our first child isn't even due until Autumn I think it's important enough to start working on from day one. I also think I am going to need every spare minute to prepare myself!
