"Non-Christian" Homeschool Material
|
Question:
I am not a Christian. This does not mean I wish to hide
Christianity from my homeschooled children -- far from it.
But I do want to give them viewpoints from all over. I have
had no problem finding curriculum material that is Christian
based, but finding non-Christian homeschool material is
quite difficult.
So here's my point -- I figure that you folks here might
possibly have a "blacklist" of publishers and other suppliers
that provide non-Christian material, that touch on subjects
considered controversial, etc. Could I have a copy of that
list?
High school material is what I need most -- my daughter,
having seen that Mom and Dad are not destroying her "goofy
brothers" has decided that she would benefit from a
homeschooled environment. And she's high school age.
Answer: -Places to get good homeschool material is the same for Non-Christians as
for Christians. Try the used curriculum swaps and also you can call
many of the school-book publishers to get their catalogs. Some of the
publishers give a discount for homeschoolers. You just have to provide
them with proof that you are homeschooling. If you need the number for
some of the publishers, just e-mail me and I will be glad to give it to
you.
Also, there is a very good correspondent school called "American
School". I understand that they are nationally accredited which is
very important. I have that number too (somewhere in my catalogs box).
You may have a homeschool used curriculum store in your area. Check
them out too. They don't just stick with "Christian" material.
-You might be interested in Clonlara:

It is a "secular" program that allows each family to taylor its
curriculum to their own goals, Christian or not.
