Question:
My son is on home shool and wants to play school
sports...We are looking a private school next year as public shcool is
just not an option for us...But this will be quite costly...I want to
know if there are any other students in the high school age level who are
having the same problem...also would any on the kids out there be willing
to form teams to play against each other...It would be alot of work to
organize this....Is there anyone out there in the Las Vegas area who
might have some insight into this matter
Answer:
The YMCA in El Paso has an active sports program for all ages and
almost all sports. Also you may be able to find a church league that
would be suitable for your son's interests. Our son also enjoys the
public swimming program available through our public Recreation
Department. He participates in swim meets and is a backstroke
specialist.
Our local Christian Home School Association also has an annual field
day for our kids where they can earn medals and ribbons in various
sporting events. We also have a Talent Night where they can strut
their stuff.
I hope that you can find something comparable in Las Vegas. I would
not suggest just dropping him off and coming back to pick him up. You
never know what undesirable elements and influences can slip into an
otherwise excellent program.
