Orthodox Christian homeschool resources?
|
Question:
I'm wondering if anyone here has any
information about homeschooling resources for Eastern Orthodox
Christians? I did find a back issue of Again magazine about education
options, but none of the snailmail addresses I found there for
homeschooling newsletters were still valid. Can anyone out there help
me with some Internet or (still valid) snailmail addresses for what I'm
seeking?
Answer: -Verified:
Orthodox Christian Homeschool Information Center
http://www.perceptionet.com/dauxier/ochic.html
St. Philip Orthodox HomeSchool Co-op

Unverified:
St. Catherines' Academy Orthodox Christian Homeschool

They seem to prefer the classical education model, which would give you a much
better search.
-Homestead.org has an incredible amount of information, run by Orthodox
Christians. Everything from self-sufficiency/disaster preparedness info
to midwifery organizations. Includes home school stuff. Not everything
is current. From their front page, click on the "Family" button on the
left frame in order to access the home schooling info they have.

I have Orthodox friends who home school, and they've not shared any
Orthodox-specific resources that they use in their children's academic
education. They use the same resources and suppliers that I do
(Greenleaf Press, Elijah Company, GCB [well . . . used to!] etc. (If
they'd known of Orthodox-specific info, I'm sure I would have heard
about it . . . they're former Protestants and are continually trying to
convert us. )
