pros and cons of homeschooling
|
Question:
I am working on grad school paper on above opic. am finding little info on
the cons any help?
Answer: -if you want info on the cons in education, contact the local school
board. they're protected under law. And the ones in the
school board are, technically, pre-cons.
-Not everyone who homeschools loves it, so there have to be some cons, along
with many pros. I'm amazed at how many people are fighting so aggressively
just to justify homeschooling. I am a homeschooler myself, and yes, I can name
a few cons, though there are many pros. Don't attack college students so
harshly, if at all!
PROS
- Independence becomes greater, because you aren't at a desk waiting for the
bell to ring. You tell yourself where you want to go, what you want to do and
learn.
-Confidence builds, because (usually) there are no bad grades, only mistakes
to learn from, and plenty of encouragement.
-Motivation grows , because many homeschoolers homeschool themselves. Planning
your own curriculum is very grueling. Even when you do not homeschool
yourself, you push yourself hard.
CONS
-Harder to socialize. Yes, it is because unless you homeschool with friends
you have to go out and make some.
-Many mistakes are made. Homeschooling is something you need to tailor-make
for the individual. If it is impersonal, why not send them back to public
school?!
