This week's Carnival of Homeschooling!!!
|
Question:
Anne is hosting this week's Carnival of Homeschooling:
She ties the various posts together with a theme of Autumn.
Drop in and see what homeschool bloggers are writing about.
Answer: - Plenty of goodies there. This one by Spunky might be of interest:

She's concerned about something called Work Keys assessments and how it
may effect homeschoolers. I'm concerned about how it effects public
schooled kids. In the comments section she suggests that children may
be required to declare career major before leaving high school, and she
has a friend with a child in fifth grade who was 'credentialed
unemployable.'
I haven't looked at it, but she says this link explains where we're
headed:

The Carnival of Education is also up, and that's always a fun one.

What role should the government have in forming educational policy?

The District 299 Chicago Public Schools Blog is still around, posting
interesting stuff, and the comments section is usually a good read as
well: http://district299.typepad.com/district299/
I found this one comparing progressive and traditional teaching and
complaining about one of them interesting:

This story about Jeremy Iverson's book High School Confidential was
fascinating. I'd not heard of the book, but based on what I read, I
agree with the writer's final conclusions:

Naturally I like this blogger's take on a recent NEA newsletter:

This one has some discussion suggestions about the on/off invitation to
the Iranian President to speak at Columbia University. The author,
oddly to my mind, claims that the Consitution does not allow people to
verbally hurt other people.
