Where to find used curriculum?

Question:
Is anyone here aware of message boards, classifieds, web sites, etc. where I could advertise for some curriculum I would like to purchase? I would also be interested in recommendations for Algebra curriculum that covers what would be considered a full year of algebra 1.

Answer:
- The Pennsylvania Homeschoolers site sells used Jacobs Algebra books. Site: http://pahomeschoolers.com/jacobs.html

You might also take a look at my publishers page which lists used book sites at http://www.geocities.com/athens/8208/publish.html

You can see some algebra reviews at http://www.geocities.com/athens/8208/algebra.html -Another source for used books is Follett Educational Services at: http://www.fes.follett.com/index.html They have Elementary Algebra by Jacobs, which I'd recommend (fun book), for $14.75. To search on their site you need to know the publisher, which is Freeman, since they don't list the author in most cases. Another good book is Algebra 1 Expressions Equatns Applctns (Foerster). If you get older editions from Follett they get pretty cheap. I think the 1st edition of his Algebra and Trig book is about $3. The publisher for the Foerster books is Addison Wesley.

Follett has a shipping policy that I think is unfair to homeschoolers. If you call the number on the site and say you're a homeschooler they will give you another phone number. At the number for schools the shipping is $5 minimum, and I think 9%, but at the homeschool number there is still a $5 minimum, but its 15%. They said something about additional costs. I canceled my order with the homeschool division and became an alternative school, paid by credit card and got the cheaper shipping.
