Excellent Homeschool Sites?
|
Question:
I am a volunteer trainer for our local library system and they have
asked me to do a program on web sites for homeschoolers. If anyone
knows of some exceptional homeschool web sites and resources on the
internet for homeschoolers, I would appreciate hearing from you, please tell me??
Answer: What a nice endeavor you are beginning. Thank you for supporting the
homeschoolers in your area.
Web sites for homeschoolers are too numerous to begin to mention. Get any
homeschool magazine, education magazine, hobby magazines of all types and
start typing in the web pages.
I read the websites to get new sites. Anytime I am going to do a unit
study, I use the search engines to go to sites. My daughter loved the movie
Titanic. We searched for lots of historical information about it.
We are going to the Adirondacks in NY this summer on vacation. We have
begun pulling sites on Ft. Ticonderoga, the revolutionary war, the
French-Indian war, the olympics, the history of the adirondacks, Ethan
Allen, Benedict Arnold, etc. etc.
Once you enter a few homeschool sites on the web, they link you all over the
place.
Many of us like www.kinderart.com . It provides nice art lessons.
www.nwf.org is a good site by the National Wildlife Federation. For a fun
time my son loves www.lego.com.
