Preschool homeschooling?
|
Question:
Does anyone have any web links to homeschooling programs that offer
Christian preschool curriculums?
Answer: -I have the opposite problem. I am looking for a good preschool home school
program that is not religious. Either way I think it's hard to find the right
fit.
Good luck on your search, if anyone knows of a good non religious program that
is reasonable in cost... please let me know.

btw... I will only be doing preschool home schooling, after that my daughter
will attend a public school
-you're looking at preschool now, so you can try out a few
different things & see what your daughter's learning style is. some kids
do need structure, but most don't.
i'm not sure what a preschool curriculum would be though... do you
live in one of those areas where they expect first graders to be already
reading & doing addition & subtraction? (i know there's a town in MA
that does... and they don't offer public kindergarten. where do they
expect the kids to pick this up?)
my boy is 15 months. i expect by 4 he'll know colors, numbers at least
to 10 & maybe the alphabet. (i was reading before 3, but i don't expect
that's genetic). when he gets a bit more coordinated i'll have him help
with cleaning (dusting, picking up), cooking (measuring, mixing) &
gardening (he already can "plant" seeds). what else does he need to
learn for preschool? BTW, i intend to homeschool too.
-Unfortunately, the only preschool program that I could afford is head start. I
hear that some head start programs are wonderful... but my experience with the
one in my area is that they hire unqualified teachers and aids.
They had a computer for the kids for 2 years and it wasn't set up for them to
use... but in the information pamphlet it boasted of computer instruction.
The teacher that I encountered was quite ignorant. And quite frankly... she
stunk. I really don't want my daughter around that. (She has been teaching
there for 4 years.) I am an over weight person. I used to weigh 350 lbs...
now I am down to about 200 and pretty active (I am also pretty tall). This
teacher has to be about 350-400 lbs and about 5 ft. She can barely move.. no
less be active with the children. (I gave the information about my weight so no
one would think I have a bias against over weight people.)
I did complain and nothing happened.
Anyway... I didn’t mean for this to be some kind of rant... but I guess it
turned out that way... it’s just I get so frustrated at the "system" saying
they offer something, and don’t come through. I am sure they are getting all
the federal/state/county/city money they can... and it’s still a lousy
program here.
