Homeschooling laws in Wisconsin.

Question:
I just found this group, and am wondering if anyone could give me the rundown on Wisconsin homeschooling laws. In Illinois, where hubby and I live now, the state considers homeschools to be private schools that can run without any interferance from the state at all. However, I understand that Wisconsin has an actual homeschool law, but I cannot really make heads or tails out of it. The law will make a big difference where my husband and I decide to settle down and buy a home, so any information or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:
- A site for legal information is the Home Ed Magazine site. The main page is: http://www.home-ed-press.com/ The direct link to state laws is: http://www.home-ed-magazine.com/HSRSC/hsrsc_lws.rgs.html The following information has been obtained from Growing Without Schooling magazine 1997 Directory, 2380 Massachusetts Avenue, Suite 104, Cambridge, MA 02140. 617-864-3100. http://www.holtgws.com. (My favorite magazine and they have a great homeschool catalog also.) updated from the March/April 1999 issue on 2/1/99 WI: Families in Schools at Home (FISH), 4639 Conestoga Tr, Cottage Grove 53527 HOME (Madison Chapter), 5745 Bittersweet Pl, Madison 53705; 608-238-3302 Unschooling Families, 1908 N Clark St, Appleton 54911; 414-735-9832 Wisconsin Parents Assoc, PO Box 2502, Madison 53701

- The Wisconsin Parents Association, located at http://www.homeschooling-wpa.org/ is a great place for info. My family has been a member for 3 years. We have been very pleased with their support.
