WAY OT: home schooling resources
|
Question:
I am thinking in my head about what homeschooling entails and whether
or not it appeals to me. I wonder if there is a real the internet group or other
internet resources which are about real people's experience with
homeschooling. I am trying to have my thoughts go from runnining willy-nilly
through my mind to some kind of route I want to take. I am starting by
writing down my goals. I want a pros and cons column. But the reality of
homeschooling is a mystery to me.
What I would really like to be a lurker as other people blab about their
homeschooling experiences. Or a website not trying to sell me a curriculum
with generic info on homeschooling Anyone know of such a thing?
Answer: -I do have some thoughts on homeschooling, both pro and con, but I need
time to pare them down to a reasonable length. Good question though -
I don't think it's OT at all - and I think it's exactly the kind of
thing that should be cross-posted. A teacher's group might be
interesting in this mix, as well. That's what the internet is for. Broadly
based dialog in an electronic medium designed precisely for that
purpose.
There are literally dozens of forums on homeschooling - all manner of
them. I don't know if gardenweb has one (I think they do), but if they
do, you can be sure it's of great quality (it's moderated).
-Here's a resource for atheist/agnostic homeschooling

Here's a yahoo group (not tremendously active though)

Here's a Waldorf friendly curriculum link:

Research your state laws here:

This is a Christian organization, but it has all the good information
on the law.
