Need Indiana Homeschool Information
|
Question:
I have a 6 year old son in first grade who is bored silly as everything
is too easy for him and I can't get the teacher to give him anything
more challenging to do. As a result she is seeing behavior problems
with him (glue on chairs, misanswering questions when he knows the
answer, getting up from his chair to do more interesting things than
learn to
count to 10!). I am interested in homeschooling him here in Elkhart
County, Indiana and wondered what the laws were, what testing is
required, and what resources I can draw on both public and private, and
if there are likeminded people in the county. We are not
particularly interested in a religious based curriculum, but would not
exclude it. My husband works 2nd shift and as a result Jesse is not
getting to see him except on weekends and this worries me greatly, which
is another reason I am considering homeschooling. Any info anyone has
out there would be much appreciated.
Answer: -You can see the laws of IN at my site linked below. Indiana is one of
the 10 best states (laws-wise) in the US. There are no testing
requirements and little else is required. Please let me know if you
have any additional questions.
